Take a Deep Breath and Improve Your Life!

Your breath is a fundamental bodily function connected to your heart rate, your blood pressure, and your stress response. It is also connected to your mood.

The key to using breath as a stress reduction tool is learning how to breathe deeply and in a focused way.

These breathing exercises will teach you just that - and will bring you deep relaxation with little effort, and within only a few minutes.

The Scientific Benefits of Breathing

Research has found that controlled diaphragmatic breathing (also referred to as belly breathing, yogic breathing or pranayama), can provide immediate and positive effects on both physical and psychological wellbeing.

When practiced regularly, controlled breathing exercises activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing your level of cortisol (the stress hormone), thereby training your body to become calmer. Other benefits include:

  • Decreases anxiety and depression
  • Improves sleep
  • Strengthens our immunity
  • Strengthens our ability to regulate emotions
  • Reduces pain
